Future Programs:

Internship Program

Kimmel & Associates, whose seed money made Building Future Builders possible, has 25 years of experience in expertly placing construction executives in suitable positions.  This is done on a nationwide basis; hundreds of placements are made yearly.

It is proposed to leverage that expertise in placing construction management students to work as interns for GCs and subcontractors during the summer break.  The companies hiring interns will have the benefit of this service free of charge.

It is expected that the contractors and students alike will benefit from the internships.  Not only will the interns gain valuable on the job training, but contractors may gain an inside track on soon-to-graduate entry level construction professionals.

Construction Learning and Conference Center

Ideally, such a center would embody:

  • A multi-purpose campus designed and operated as a not for profit educational resource to the construction industry, public and private educational institutions and the general public.

  • An experiential educational venue with aspects of a theme park and science museum.

  • An educational destination for elementary and high school field trips.

  • A venue for interdisciplinary professional interaction.

  • A regional and national resource.

  • A venue for presentations by, or to local, state or national governmental agencies.

Some program ideas that we would like to explore in this context are: a heavy equipment area where people could be trained and then get behind the controls of a bulldozer, and train in a tower crane simulator; an experiential construction museum; a multimedia learning center and auditorium; and an office and laboratory campus.
