General Programs:

Lobby for the Construction Industry

In the course of planning sessions for Construction Academies in the Asheville area, it became apparent that proposed changes in the North Carolina state-mandated curriculum could have a marked negative impact on our programming. Building Future Builders has already begun to lobby state officials. In this regard Building Future Builders is inherently an advocate for the Construction Industry and for Construction education. Therefore as other needs arise, Building Future Builders is prepared to lobby local, state or national officials and lawmakers.

Image Building

Building Future Builders will make ongoing efforts to improve the image of construction as a venue for desirable, relevant, necessary and profitable careers for the 21st century.

We will provide resources for parents, teachers and high school counselors to educate the public regarding the wide range of opportunity in the construction industry. We will also facilitate arrangements for speakers to legislative bodies, schools and other public forums to promote the industry.

Logo Contest

This recently run contest served as a vehicle to create awareness of Building Future Builders, through an announcement in ENR and through the electronic bulletin boards of accredited schools of construction management, architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering, interior design and landscape architecture.

We received entries from all over the nation; from Berkley, California to the North Carolina coastline. On February 22, 2007 we judged the final stage entries. The Building Future Builders logo symbol, logo-type, and the redesign of our website all evolved from the this program.
